* Fiche détaillée à télécharger
A small shrub with yellow flowers in drooping clusters, Rovada is a rigorous and very productive variety of very large, antioxidant-rich red fruits on long stems. This combination gives a heavy crop, easy to pick.
Its late flowering escapes frost. Rovada’s reliable nature makes it the #1 red currant tree in the world.
The fruits can be frozen or used in your home-made jams.
Resistance: Rust (average), Powdery mildew, late frost
The currant (genus Ribes) is from the Grossulariaceae family, native to temperate regions of the northern hemisphere.
It likes rich and well drained soil with a good water retention capacity. The ideal PH varies from 6 to 6.5. The addition of organic matter (compost), manure and mulch (renewed every year) will be beneficial to its production.
When it is not yet bearing fruit, a red currant tree can be recognized from a black currant tree by the absence of odor produced by its leaves when crumpled between the fingers.
The currant tree bears red, white and pink fruits.
