Heritage raspberry plants are grown exclusively in vitro. They are called regeneration plants, which gives them a superior quality compared with plants propagated traditionally in the field. They are generally healthier, more vigorous and more productive than bare-root plants grown in the field. They also have the advantage of adapting more easily to the climatic and soil conditions where they are planted. Trayplants are delivered ready to be planted in the field from May to autumn.
The Heritage raspberry is a remontant variety with strong vigour, solid thorny canes, high productivity from late August to the first frosts and no need for staking or support. Fruits are medium rounded, firm, easy to detach, rich in sugar and dry matter, with a sweet flavour. Holds very well in the freezer.
This is a remontant raspberry, so named because it produces two harvests on each stem (unless pruned otherwise): an autumn harvest on the upper third of the stem and a second harvest the following summer (June) on the lower two-thirds of the stem.
Bunches of white, 5-petalled, rose-like flowers give way to red raspberries of excellent flavour.
One of the best remontant varieties for its fruit quality, but a little too late for more northerly regions.
