* Cross-pollination compatibility table – HASKAP
Honey Bee is a beautiful shrub (aesthetic), very productive with an upright habit used mainly as a pollinator. It blooms at the same time as Aurora and Indigo Gem favoring a good fruit setting, however the harvest is not necessarily synchronized. It is thus implanted in association as companion.
Its fruits, cylindrical and persisting a long time on the plant, are intended mainly for the transformation. Not suitable for self-picking. Must be harvested mechanically.
Haskap, an exciting new crop for North America, is particularly well suited for northern areas. Its unique, complex taste is reminiscent of a tasty blend of blueberries, raspberries and blackberries.
Its powder blue to dark blue fruits are elongated and grow on a shrub 4 to 5 feet tall at maturity. Cameos have an extremely high antioxidant value (ORAC) with significant amounts of anthocyanins, polyphenols and bioflavanoids :
The qualities that make it a plant of choice for northern cultivation refer to its high resistance to cold for the shrub (-47 degrees Celsius) and for its flowers (-7 degrees Celsius) as well as its ability to remain dormant during a winter mildness.
The camerisier requires cross-pollination to obtain an optimal yield.
