The September Sun cultivar has green, pink and white foliage. It blooms in June with fragrant white flowers.
Its production starts at the age of three years and its fruits ripen early, in August or September, then it produces a big pale green and delicious fruit. It is therefore a plant of choice for regions with short summers.
The plant should be exposed to sun or half-shade and sheltered from the wind. Its soil must be well drained, rich and fresh. Its hardiness zone is 3a and more.
Arctic kiwi (Actinidia kolomikta) is a very robust and vigorous dioecious plant, requiring both male and female plants to produce fruit.
The fruit is smaller than in kiwai (Actinidia arguta) but the plants start producing at the age of 2 or 3 years.
The female plants produce ovoid fruits of the size of a large grape, very rich in vitamin C and potassium.
It is necessary to pick the fruit before its maturity because the ripe fruits tend to fall on the ground.
This mini kiwi is resistant to winter frost down to -40 Celsius.
