Description

Currant White Pearl – (Ribes rubrum)

* Fiche détaillée à déterminer

White Pearl Currant is a Dutch classic, appreciated for its attractive upright shape and sweet, flavorful berries.

White Pearl is a late season variety that produces clusters of large, juicy, translucent white berries. This productive variety is adorned with beautiful greenish-yellow flowers in May to offer a harvest towards the end of July.

Self fertile variety.

Generalities Currant

The currant (genus Ribes) is from the Grossulariaceae family, native to temperate regions of the northern hemisphere.

It likes rich and well drained soil with a good water retention capacity. The ideal PH varies from 6 to 6.5. The addition of organic matter (compost), manure and mulch (renewed every year) will be beneficial to its production.

When it is not yet bearing fruit, a red currant tree can be recognized from a black currant tree by the absence of odor produced by its leaves when crumpled between the fingers.

The currant tree bears red, white and pink fruits.
