McKenzie, a winter hardy shrub in zone 3a, reaches a height of 6-10′ at maturity.

 

Hanging, clusters of berries ripen to a black-purple color. The rather juicy berry, bigger than the average reaching, 1.2 cm of diameter.

 

It blooms in spring (June) and is harvested in September. The plant is very decorative especially used for the conversation of the ground and a wind breaker.

 

 

 

Generalities Aronia Melanocarpa

 

The aronia is a beautiful shrub native to North America. It produces a dark purple, astringent fruit used for its nutritional values and nutraceutical properties.

In June, the shrub is covered with beautiful white flowers. These are picked by hand or mechanically in September.

In the fall, its leaves turn a blazing red-orange, it is superb.
