It produces fragrant white flowers in spring and purple-red, yellow-fleshed fruit in August. The fruit is larger than a cherry but smaller than a plum. They have a sweet, slightly tart flavour and can be eaten fresh or made into jam, jelly, juice, pie, etc.<\/p>\n
