The berries are edible and resemble blackcurrants or blueberries. They are enjoyed fresh or in jelly. The Thiessen serviceberry is self-fertile, but benefits from the presence of another serviceberry to increase its production. It is very hardy and resistant to disease and pests.<\/p>\n

Thiessen produces blue-purple fruit, good for eating fresh or in pies, which is probably the best way to enjoy it.<\/p>\n
