One male plant is needed to pollinate 5-7 females. Female shrubs usually bear fruit after three years and yield at their peak after seven to eight years.

The small fruit can contain up to 30 times more vitamin C than an orange. Thanks to this exceptional vitamin C content, sea buckthorn has a strong antioxidant power and helps boost the immune system and fight against oxidative stress responsible for premature aging of cells.

The berries also provide effective benefits for the skin thanks to its high content of fatty acids (omega-3 and omega-6)

The shrub has the particularity of amending the relatively poor soils. It is recommended to fight against soil erosion or as a windbreak.

Sea Buckthorn Mary – (Hippophae rhamnoides) The Mary cultivar is native to Latvia and produces medium-sized dark orange fruits.
