Haskap, an exciting new crop for North America, is particularly well suited for northern areas. Its unique, complex taste is reminiscent of a tasty blend of blueberries, raspberries and blackberries.<\/p>\n
Its powder blue to dark blue fruits are elongated and grow on a shrub 4 to 5 feet tall at maturity. Cameos have an extremely high antioxidant value (ORAC) with significant amounts of anthocyanins, polyphenols and bioflavanoids :<\/p>\n
The qualities that make it a plant of choice for northern cultivation refer to its high resistance to cold for the shrub (-47 degrees Celsius) and for its flowers (-7 degrees Celsius) as well as its ability to remain dormant during a winter mildness.<\/p>\n
