Wine grape vines
Hardy hybrid vines
This section describes a few of the main wine varieties grown in Quebec. Our harsh climate led local wine growers to search out new vine varieties and introduce interesting new flavours to wine lovers. Why not them a try?
This mid-season variety wields tight bunches of small, savoury, juicy mid-size green grapes with sweet citrus-like flavour. It seems sensitive to mildew and very sensitive to anthracnose. Can be used as table grapes or to make wine. Flowers bloom in early spring and harvest occurs around mid-September. Very hardy plant, Zone 3, Vandal Cliche can withstand temperatures as low as -35 °C.
