Saskatoon berry Trappiste

Amelanchier produces delicious berries known as Saskatoon berries. This variety is well adapted to our harsh climate. Drought tolerant, grows well in heavy soil. The berries, ranging in colour from violet-blue to purple, are high in pectin and ideal for jam and jelly making. This shrub prefers full sun and is a good bird landscaping choice. The Amelanchier settles in better when another variety is planted near by.

Resembles a Western Canada cultivar, but highly abundant.

Yield registered at Lake saint-Jean (Quebec) over 3 years : 6 000 to 12 000 kg/ha.
