This section describes a few of the main wine varieties grown in Quebec. Our harsh climate led local wine growers to search out new vine varieties and introduce interesting new flavours to wine lovers. Why not them a try?
This red-green grape variety is very popular die to its flavour. Excellent table grapes, they ripen early, are disease resistant, and have good wields with average-size bunches of light, pip-free red grapes that are a little smaller than grocery grapes (1.5-2 g). They are very sweet, much like sharp strawberries. Flowers bloom in mid-June and harvest can start in late August, early September. The vines must be protected from wind, and can withstand temperatures as low as -34 °C in Zone 4.
