Small shrub with purple-rose flowers in hanging clusters. Thorn-free stems. Hardy, highly productive variety. Blooms in the spring and ripens in the fall. The 10-12 mm berries are fleshy with colours ranging from red to blue-tinged to black. Depending on the species, they can be sweet, juicy, or dry and tasteless. The berries contain high amounts of vitamin C and potassium. Full sun or light shade, zone 2. Cross pollinizing is not necessary, but can lead to markedly higher yields.
This is the best red currant with large, deep red berries. This very robust and hardy plant is highly productive and the berries are flavourful. It is a late-blooming, mid-season cultivar that is resistant to leaf diseases, but sensitive to powdery mildew.
