The Manor cherry plum cultivar is a cross between a cherry and a plum tree that produces small, round, sweet fruit.
Manor cherry plums have dark purple skin, almost black when ripe, and dark purple-red flesh. It is often ranked among the best cherry plums, along with the Opata and Kappa cultivars.
The skin is thin and tender, with a mild flavour, and the stone is virtually non-adherent. The flesh is tender and juicy, with a pleasantly sweet flavour and a touch of astringency. It is used for fresh eating, jam and canning.
The Manor cherry plum grows as a low shrub with a spreading, slightly weeping habit. It grows to around 1.5 metres in height and spread. It is hardy in zone 2, very productive and early; it generally produces fruit in the first two years. It needs a different variety nearby to bear fruit.
