Doctor Maxine Thompson is professor emeritus of the University of Oregon’s Horticulture Department. She is one of the key Haskap experts in the United States. Her varieties originate in northern Japan. She concentrates her research on drawing the best Japanese characteristics of the Haskap cultivars – large oval berries with uniform maturation.

This Japanese cultivar produces up to 8 pounds of fruits per shrub after 4-5 years of growth. The berries are 2 cm long, oval and mild tasting. This mid-season variety is suitable for machanical harvest.
